Make a Resume, Get a Job…. It’s Easy, Right?
Most people think it’s going to be easy.
Make a resume, post it on Monster, and get a job. Piece of cake.
So they fire up Word, downloaded a resume template and fill it out. They usually spend about 30 minutes all in.
Then they upload it to Monster and sit back and wait for the offers to start rolling in.
Is that you?
A week later, when they’ve had few, if any, responses, they start to wonder what they’re doing wrong.
For the past two years I’ve been working as a Human Resources Manager for a major corporation in Southern California and I go through about fifty cover letters and resumes a week and I can tell you the vast majority of them are terrible.Think about that for a moment…
If you’re doing “what most people do” there’s a good chance that your generic resume and cover letter are practically invisible in a sea of cookie cutter resumes.
First off, don’t underestimate the importance of your cover letter and resume!Sure, there are pundits out there telling you that your cover letter and resume aren’t that important, because it’s the interview that gets you the job. Well, that is true, it’s the interview that gets you the job… but what is it that gets you an interview? Your cover letter and resume!
Your cover letter and resume are the “first impression” you make on an employer. You’ll never get an interview if you make a bad first impression. It’s that simple.
I’m a professional at what I do. I have years of experience and accumulated knowledge that I bring to the table and I’m going to help you get results.
