The “So What?” Cover Letter Test

I get more questions about Cover Letters than any other topic, so I’ve decided to include a few quick tips here.

When you read your cover letter, ask yourself if you honestly feel id it is going hook employers and leave them no choice but to call you for a job interview?

If the answer is “No,” then it needs revision!

One of the tricks you can use is the “So What?” test.

Here’s how it works…

After reading every sentence in your next cover letter, ask yourself: “So what?”

Does the sentence really say something compelling, or is it fluff?

Is it something your prospective employer absolutely needs to know about you, or not?

If not, then rewrite it or eliminate it.

Make every sentence in your Cover Letter passes the “So what?” test.

If it does, there’s a good chance your cover letter is on track.

Of course there’s more to a great Cover Letter than the “So What?” test, so be sure to send for my Free Reports “The Five Resume Mistakes That Can Kill Your Career” and The Ten Cover Letter Essentials”
